The group chat has been saying “we should go somewhere” since March
Let's go to
Penang
Pick somewhere, send the code, and let everyone pile in. Lancong holds the route,
the money and the packing list on one page. The host decides who can edit.
Free, no card, no trial. Just joining someone else's trip?

The boring bits, handled
Built for a group deciding together, not for one person planning alone.
Settle up without the maths
Log who paid and who's in, down to itemised bills and sales tax. Lancong works out the fewest transfers that square everyone up.
Build the days together
Stops anyone can add, reorder or swap. Park alternatives beside a stop, or split a day into a Main Trip and a Sub-Trip when the group wants different things.
Put the hotel to a vote
Shortlist the options, let everyone vote, then follow the stay through to booked, with the confirmed dates and details kept alongside.
Nobody forgets the adapter
Assign the power bank to one person and sunscreen to everyone, then see at a glance what's still unpacked the night before.
One plan, not five screenshots
Everyone works off the same trip from their own phone, so there's one version of the plan instead of a spreadsheet doing the rounds.
Spend in ringgit, read it in yours
Pay in ringgit, baht or dong and read it back in your own currency, on live Bank Negara Malaysia rates.
Three steps and you're going
1
Create a trip
Name it, add your destinations and the dates. That's the whole setup.
2
Send the code
Every trip gets a nine-character code. Drop it in the chat. Joining takes seconds and guests don't need an account.
3
Plan and spend together
Add stops, log expenses, tick off packing. Everyone's working from the same page.
Take someone else's trip and make it yours
Hosts can publish a finished trip to Discover. Browse them for ideas, or clone one as the starting point for your own.
Before you ask
Is it free?
Yes. Everything on this page is free to use. There's no paid tier, no trial and no card required.
Do I need an account?
To create a trip, yes: a free account with an email address, so you can get back into your trips from any device. To join someone else's trip and start splitting expenses, guest mode is enough.
What is guest mode?
A name, no password. You can join trips by code and split expenses straight away. Creating trips, photos, receipts, comments and ratings need a free account, and you can upgrade later without losing anything you've already done.
Does it work for any destination and currency?
Yes. Every country and every currency is built in, so you can plan a trip anywhere and log expenses in whatever you actually spend. Rates for the most-traded currencies refresh automatically; the rest use a stored approximation, which is close enough for splitting a bill but not a substitute for your bank's rate. You can also set your own exchange rate per trip.
Where is my data stored?
In a hosted Postgres database, so every member of a trip sees the same thing. Trips are private by default: nothing shows up in Discover or on a public link unless the host explicitly shares it. The Privacy Policy lists the third-party services we use and what each one receives.

Getting paid back
When a trip settles up, the people who owe you see these. Lancong never moves the money. Nothing is shared until you turn on "Visible to my trip-mates" for a method.
Purchases
What you have bought, with a receipt for each.
New trip defaults
Filled in for you when you start a trip. Saves as you choose.
Using Lancong's AI. Or use my own key: connect your own Anthropic, OpenAI or Google Gemini account for AI itineraries, file import and receipt scanning, and pay that provider directly. Most people never need this. The shared "Generate Ideas" pool always uses Lancong's key.
Privacy and data
Saves as you choose. Your public page switches live on your profile.
Use my searches and the destinations of trips I open to order Discover. Kept: the last 20 of each. Turning it off clears what's kept and shows Discover in a random order.
Search history
Nothing kept.
Your collected stamps appear on your public profile.
Itineraries you published are listed on your public profile.
Other users can find you by username. Turn off to be found only by direct link.

This trip is wrapped up, so it can't be reset. Its Recap and journey are kept. Reopen the trip under Trip status if you need to reset it.
Manage Sharing
Friends and public viewers on your profile only ever see items you explicitly share here — never your full trip by default.
Sets one visibility across all five categories below. Masking (e.g. "Hide address") stays per-category — turn it on individually where it applies.
Off by default — an outside viewer sees your shared stops plus Main Trip only. Turn a day on to show both sides as labelled sections.
